Endodontics is a dental specialty involving treatment of dental pulp and roots. After receiving a degree in dentistry, an endodontist, or endodontic dentistry, is trained in this specialty. It can take up to two or more years before these doctors start practicing on patients. In cases that require it, they will perform root canals.
If your teeth are hot or cold-sensitive, broken or cracked through injury, or are infected, your dentist may refer you to an endodontic specialist if they aren’t one themselves.
